Frequently Asked Questions
Am I allowed to attend my child’s audition?
Parents will not be allowed in the school building to assist their child or watch their audition due to safety concerns with students currently attending St. Augustine High School.
Where do I park to drop my child off for their audition?
For the SJCCA auditions at St. Augustine High School, you can park in the school’s parking lot. The school typically has parking spaces available for events, and the main lot is conveniently located near the entrance.
St. Augustine High School is located at: 3205 Varella Ave. St. Augustine, FL, 32084.
If I am auditioning for multiple strands of SJCCA with different attire requirements, will there be a place for me to change?
Yes, if you’re auditioning for multiple strands of SJCCA with different attire requirements, there will be a designated area for you to change between auditions. Current SJCCA Students will be volunteering at this event to guide you to your audition areas and bathrooms.
Am I auditioning in a group or individually in a room?
Both! Certain strands have different audition requirements. For a Theatre, Musical Theatre, and Technical Production audition you will be auditioning one at a time.
For a Dance, Guitar, Band, Chorus, Musical Theatre Dance, and Visual Art Audition, you will be auditioning in a group setting with other students but viewed individually by the instructor.
There may be instances where the instructor asks you to perform a task individually within the group setting, so make sure to be prepared.
My child is Home Schooled or does not have a HAC account, can I still audition for SJCCA?
Yes, if you do not have a HAC account, but plan on attending St. Augustine High School as a rising 9th/10th grade student, you can still book an audition. Book an audition on the SJCCA website for the strand you wish to audition for. On the day of auditions, you will complete a form on site.
I have a student that is going to be in 11th and 12th grade, will they be able to audition for SJCCA?
To audition into the program, you must be a rising 9th or 10th grade student. Students who are out of zone of St. Augustine High School who are NOT rising 9th or 10th grade students may not audition for SJCCA.
Current SAHS students or students moving into the zone of SAHS who are rising 11th and 12th grade students are allowed to audition for an SJCCA class.
What is the difference between auditioning for an SJCCA Class and the SJCCA Program?
You must be a rising 9th or 10th grader to audition for the program. You can be in zone or out of zone, but you must be a rising 9th or 10th grade student.
Auditioning for the class is for St. Augustine High School Zoned students that are rising 11th and rising 12th grade students. You must be in the program for at least 3 years and taking an SJCCA course in your senior year to be considered a graduate from the SJCCA program.
